Cement plant
Wear protection in the building materials industry
In the cement and building materials industry (e.g. gypsum and lime), large quantities of material are moved. This subjects machinery, plants and conveyors to very high material stresses. Abrasion and impact wear with high impact and shear stresses occur in all work operations.
Wear protection for cement, the mega-material
Cement is the most commonly produced material in the world. The huge quantities of material required cause wear in nearly every part of the production process: from the extraction of the raw material from the limestone quarry, to the grinding and conveying of all feedstocks, to the processing of the clinker after the rotary kiln. In cement production, our wear resistance solutions and products reduce wear in all these applications and in other areas as well.
Cement production – raw material extraction and processing
Even in the quarry, wear protection linings for buckets, lorries and conveyor systems are a valuable investment in equipment availability. For subsequent processing in the cement works, Kalenborn provides wear-resistant and anti-friction linings to ensure the long service life and cost-effective operation of plant components.
Cement production – clinker production
From homogenization to the raw mill and from preheating to charging the oven – MES provides technically and economically optimized wear protection for every area. After the rotary kiln, our thermostable materials extend service life in the clinker cooler and in the downstream equipment and lines. Just about every component involved, such as crushers, chain conveyors and bucket elevators, can be effectively protected against wear and the resulting downtime and production losses.
Cement mills
The transportation of clinker from silos or bunkers to the cement mill and the subsequent crushing process also subject components and machinery to abrasion. And although adding blast furnace slag or fly ash reduces the cost of the cement, it also increases wear. In addition to supplying linings for feeders, mill housings and separators, the range of wear protection services, also includes the regeneration of grinding tables and rolls by way of hardfacing and the supply of abrasion-resistant mill rollers and nozzle rings. A further step in the reduction of wear in cement production.
Cement loading and transport
Our wear protection materials provide economical protection for components involved in handling the finished cement. Close attention is also paid to wear protection and anti-friction properties in the equipment used to load the cement onto lorries, freight cars and ships, in order to guarantee thousands of hours of trouble-free operation during cement production.
